MODA Elevates Global Modest Fashion

The Malaysian Official Designers’ Association (MODA) hosted a landmark event at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2024, celebrating the fusion of tradition and modernity in modest fashion. Held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysia Modest Fashion Show showcased the powerful intersection of global influences and defining styles under the theme “Global Influence, Defining Style.”
As the world’s largest halal trade exhibition, MIHAS is globally recognized for its influence in promoting halal products and services. This year’s 20th edition highlighted the burgeoning influence of modest fashion on the international stage, with MODA serving as the official strategic partner for the modest fashion segment. The event was a pivotal platform for both Malaysian and international designers to demonstrate their creativity and innovation.

Designers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Morocco, and Dubai presented exclusive 8-piece collections, skillfully blending traditional motifs with contemporary designs. The runway featured notable designers including MODA members Yani Bakhtiar, Arlina Ayou by Arlina Amdan, bycafia.co by Camila Lutfiah, LOAYO by Loubna Ayouche, and CASALWA by Datin Sharifah Salwa. International talents such as DS Modest by Bagus Nandang from Indonesia, Mg by Marwa Ghassan from Dubai, and MouCa X Langgam Batik by Moureen & Efi Amroeni also graced the stage.

The event’s prestige was further enhanced by the presence of esteemed guests including YBhg. Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), YAM Paduka Puteri Tunku Hajah Mariam Zaharah binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, and Mdm. Razida Hanim Abdul Razak, Director of MATRADE. Their attendance underscored the significance of modest fashion as a growing economic force and cultural phenomenon.
The showcase reaffirmed that modest fashion transcends religious, racial, and gender boundaries, celebrating diversity and inclusivity. MODA’s partnerships with GoFluence and Kreasi Mode International were crucial in expanding the event’s reach, bringing in a diverse lineup of Indonesian designers through influencer marketing and innovative collaborations.
The event was further elevated by the continued support of SLAE Cosmetics, who generously sponsored the event for the second consecutive year. Their products and services added a touch of glamour to the runway, enhancing the overall presentation of the collections.
