Products sold in Malaysia are certified halal - San Remo

Australian pasta manufacturer, San Remo Macaroni Company Pty Ltd clarified all its products currently distributed in the Malaysian market are halal certified and comply with recognised halal standards.

“ICCV has audited San Remo’s manufacturing facility, and the facility operates in compliance with halal requirements.

“San Remo’s facility has been, and remains, a pork free site,” the brand said in a statement.

This follows a statement by JAKIM on 31st January which reveals the La Pasta Carbonara Flavour Pasta and Sauce manufactured by San Remo is not halal certified by the department.

The statement released by JAKIM last month, pertaining to the viral product that is not halal certified by the department.

In response, San Remo clarified the specific product mentioned is not marketed, sold or distributed in Malaysia through its official distribution channels, including those of GBA Corporation Sdn. Bhd.

The brand emphasised, it remains steadfast in their commitment to halal integrity as reflected in their experience on food manufacturing and distribution of over 90 years.

“We appreciate the continued trust of our consumers and encourage the public to select products that are certified Halal by JAKIM or by foreign Halal certification bodies recognised by JAKIM.

“Consumers are encouraged to refer to official JAKIM guidance when verifying the Halal status of food products,” the brand said.
