Muhammad Umer Gorsi has advanced to the role of Executive Vice President & Head Commercial Banking (South) at meezanbanklimited, marking a significant milestone in a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades in corporate, commercial, and Islamic banking.

With over 𝟭𝟵 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 of diverse experience, Umer has built a strong reputation for leading high-performing banking franchises across Pakistan’s key markets including Islamabad, Faisalabad, and Karachi. In his current leadership role, he oversees one of the largest commercial banking portfolios in the country, managing over 450 credit relationships across a wide spectrum of clients ranging from commercial enterprises to large corporates. He leads multi-regional teams across South Pakistan, driving growth in funded assets, trade business, and overall portfolio profitability.

Prior to this, he served as Senior Vice President and Vice President in Corporate & Investment Banking at meezanbanklimited, where he delivered exceptional growth by expanding corporate relationships, structuring large-scale trade and funded deals, and strengthening the bank’s footprint in sectors such as telecom, oil & gas, and exports. His contributions also include leading complex investment banking transactions and significantly growing regional business volumes.

Earlier in his journey, Umer played a key role in product development and Islamic finance structuring as part of advisory teams working on Government of Pakistan Sukuk programs, collaborating with institutions such as the Ministry of Finance, SBP, and SECP. His experience also includes leadership roles in Faisalabad’s corporate banking expansion, as well as foundational roles at faysalbanklimited and ABN AMRO, where he developed strong expertise in relationship management, credit structuring, and commercial lending.

He holds a Master’s degree in Islamic Finance Practice (MIFP) from inceif_university and has further strengthened his expertise with certifications in commercial credit analysis, reflecting his deep understanding of both conventional and Islamic financial systems.
