Ukraine to expand accreditation of halal certification, allows smoother export process
The Ukraine State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection is currently underway to expand accreditations of halal certification in its country, following a meeting with representatives of organizations engaged in halal product certification.
The Odessa Journal reported, the head of the Service, Serhiy Tkachuk said the discussion focused on ways to further cooperate so Ukrainian producers can export their products abroad without obstacles.
The halal certification plays an important role for Ukrainian producers, as it is a mandatory recognition required to sell food products by many countries, particularly in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

For record, halal certification is a credible proof that the preparation of the product aligns with the principles of Sharia and can be obtained through an authorized state body of the respective country or accredited halal certification organizations in other states.
“Ukrainan producers already have the opportunity to undergo halal certification for export to a number of countries where Sharia norms are in effect.
“At the same time, we are not stopping at what has been achieved and are promoting the expansion of export geography, as well as obtaining or expanding accreditations in halal certification for markets such as Singapore, Indonesia, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and others,” Tkachuk emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to continue the dialogue and work together to make Ukrainian products accessible to consumers in various countries around the world.
