Honoured to have been invited as a keynote speaker for the Session on Governance, Accounting & Compliance in WaqfTech at the Global WaqfTech Conference 2026.

I had the opportunity to share insights on:

“From Trust to Transformation: Strengthening Waqf Governance in the Digital Age”

Waqf has always been built on amanah (trust), but in today’s increasingly complex and transparency-driven environment, trust alone is no longer sufficient. Strengthening governance is critical to unlocking the true potential of waqf as a sustainable socio-economic driver.

In the session, I highlighted:

The governance gaps limiting waqf effectiveness today

The importance of an integrated governance framework combining Shariah principles with global standards (AAOIFI, IFRS, MCCG, S17A)

The role of WaqfTech in enhancing transparency, accountability, and real-time oversight

Ultimately, the future of waqf depends on our ability to move from trust-based systems to structured, technology-enabled governance.
