We knew finding halal food in China would be difficult but we did our research in advance to ensure there were plenty of halal eateries for our trip. We also familiarised ourself with the characters 清真 or asked restaurants if their food was ‘Qīngzhēn’ (halal) as the signage wasn’t always in the universal Arabic حلال

What we hadn’t expected were how many Muslims we’d see both serving or eating in restaurants which became our fave way to spot halal restaurants.
