Not everything in life is black and white.
We all know halal, what is clearly allowed.
We all know haram, what is clearly forbidden.
But what about the things in between?
Makruh.
The things that are not sinful… yet not loved.
And this is where the real test and struggle begins.
Because avoiding haram is obligation.
But leaving makruh… is a sign of sincerity.
It is the battle of the nafs.
The quiet moments where no one sees us… but Allah does.
The choice to walk away not because we have to…
but because our heart wants to be cleaner, softer, closer.
The Prophet PBUH said:
“Halal is clear and haram is clear, and between them are doubtful matters…” (Bukhari & Muslim)
And Allah reminds us:
“Indeed, Allah loves those who constantly repent and loves those who purify themselves.” (Qur’an 2:222)
As we grow older, we are not meant to stay attached to the same habits that once felt normal. It’s a struggle but with the light and guidance of Allah we can shift.
Growth is letting go.
Growth is refinement.
Growth is choosing Allah… even in the smallest things.
This journey is not about perfection.
It’s about purification.
