Nak Nak’s central kitchen is halal-certified, bringing joy to Muslim consumers

If you love Korean fried dishes then you must be no stranger to Nak Nak, a Korean-inspired quick service restaurant that has grabbed onto the hearts of many Malaysians especially the younger generation.

Nak (낙) which simply means joy in Korean can also be understood as ‘we want’ in Malay, inspiring the brand’s identity and messaging that when customers see Nak Nak, joy will follow them.

As a brand, the franchise is not certified halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) but it shares the same central kitchen as its sister brand, K Fry Kitchen that was announced halal in August 2025.

Since its posting, the video has garnered 22 likes, 3 saves and 15 shares as of 4:16 p.m on 3rd December 2025.

In a 20-second TikTok video posted on 17th October 2025, the brand shows the halal recognition of its central kitchen in the JAKIM Halal Malaysia Portal, where it is registered under its parent company K Fry Kitchens Sdn. Bhd.

“Our products consisted of 100 percent beef patties, fresh buns, fresh mushrooms and no preservatives.

“Every sauce and pickle is checked and halal-sourced, and now it is official! Our central kitchen is halal certified,” the brand said.

Kinihalal’s check on Nak Nak and K Fry Kitchen’s halal status via JAKIM’s Halal Malaysia Portal revealed that their central kitchen has been certified halal.

The certification is crucial to ensure that their products are accessible to all, aligning with their goal in bringing joy to anyone, anywhere and at any time.

Although Nak Nak’s establishment in Malaysia had only taken place 3 years ago, the brand in a statement said it has accumulated years of Korean fry experience through K Fry Urban Korean.

Their products range from full set meals consisting of 100 percent premium beef burgers and loaded fries to snacks such as handmade cookies, bingsoo and more.

“Fresh, simple, high quality food at a great value, Nak Nak is a fun and lively community gathering place for everyone to have a taste of Korea,” the brand said in a statement.

Kinihalal's personal favourite is the Nak Dak Soy Garlic combo, paired with Iced Lemon Tea and Loaded Bulgogi Fries on the side.
