GoBarakah and SOKONG Collaborate to Revolutionize Charitable Giving in Malaysia

GoBarakah, a multiple award-winning fintech platform dedicated to transforming charitable giving, and SOKONG, a dynamic platform connecting individuals with organizations supporting various causes, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to strengthen their collaboration in driving impactful social change.

The MOC was formalized during GoBarakah’s landmark launch of its e-voucher programme to support 200 registered orphanages across Malaysia on 17th March 2025 at Dorsett Hartamas.

The e-voucher programme aims to raise RM1.2 million through public and corporate contributions, providing grocery e-vouchers, redeemable at GoBarakah’s partner vendors such as Mydin and AEONBig, and Utility/Rental e-vouchers to support the operational needs of orphanages.

The programme received support from the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development of Malaysia, YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri who emphasised the importance of innovative solutions in addressing societal challenges.

A Partnership for Positive Change
Under the MOC, GoBarakah and SOKONG will collaborate to enhance fundraising efforts on the SOKONG platform, with aid distribution facilitated through GoBarakah’s Smart Giving E-Voucher Platform.

This partnership will enable seamless, transparent, and efficient allocation of resources to individual beneficiaries, ensuring that donations reach those in need while providing granular visibility into how their contributions are utilized.

The collaboration may also include a joint partnership programme to collect public donations and assign them directly to beneficiaries, with or without the involvement of third-party organizations. This initiative aligns with both parties’ commitment to fostering collective action and creating a measurable impact on communities.

Leveraging Technology for Greater Good

GoBarakah, launched in November 2023 by the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development of Malaysia, leverages proprietary QR technology to connect donors, organizations, and beneficiaries in a traceable and transparent ecosystem. Its inclusive fintech solutions ensure aid reaches even unbanked and marginalized individuals, while reducing risks of fund misuse, abuse, and money laundering.

To date, GoBarakah has partnered with leading corporates such as Hong Leong Islamic Bank, Grab, and GXBank in various CSR and funds-for-good initiatives.

SOKONG, on the other hand, empowers individuals to support causes they care about by connecting them with organizations driving positive change. By fostering collective action, SOKONG amplifies the impact of charitable efforts and encourages community participation in addressing societal challenges.

A Shared Vision for the Future
The MOC underscores the shared vision of GoBarakah and SOKONG to revolutionize charitable giving through innovation, transparency, and collaboration. By combining their expertise and resources, the two platforms aim to create a sustainable ecosystem that empowers donors, supports beneficiaries, and drives meaningful change.

“This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to make charitable giving more impactful and transparent,” said Firdaus Mohamed, CEO of LC Wakaful Digital Sdn. Bhd., the owner and operator of GoBarakah.

“Together with SOKONG, we are committed to ensuring that every contribution reaches those who need it most, while providing donors with the assurance that their generosity is making a real difference.”

“We are thrilled to collaborate with GoBarakah to amplify the impact of our collective efforts,” added Syed Sadiq Albar, Director of Partnerships of SOKONG, a platform under Yayasan MalaysiaKini.

“This partnership will enable us to reach more beneficiaries and create a ripple effect of positive change across Malaysia.”
