MIHAS Awards 2025 returns, spotlights innovation and sustainability in halal sector

The 12th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) Awards 2025 organised by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) returns on a continuing mission to recognise outstanding achievements in the global halal sector.

 

MATRADE in a statement said, the nominations for this year’s awards spotlights innovation and sustainability in the halal ecosystem thus inviting all credible Malaysian exporters interested to join.

 

The MIHAS Awards is scheduled to take place on 20th September in conjunction with the main expo itself on 17 to 20th September, MATRADE informed.

 

The statement mentioned the awards will feature two main categories for Malaysian exporters to anticipate, which are MIHAS Products and Services Excellence Award and  MIHAS Innovation & Sustainability Award.

 

“The MIHAS Products and Services Excellence Award honours strong export performance, product or service quality, digitalisation, brand strength, and CSR impact.

 

“On the other hand, MIHAS Innovation & Sustainability Award recognises businesses that embed ESG values and the UN Sustainable Development Goals into their operations.


MIHAS 2025, or the Malaysia International Halal Showcase, aims to achieve RM4.5 billion in global halal trade.


“However, the MIHAS Awards committee has also introduced a new Emerging Star Award category which highlights promising newcomers driving potential and positive impact in the halal space,” said MATRADE.

 

The statement highlighted that participatory exporters will gain global exposure, a boost of brand credibility and opportunities to venture into new markets aside from being able to showcase leadership in halal innovation, sustainability and integrity.

 

MATRADE Chairman, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said, the MIHAS Awards continue to be a powerful platform to honour the visionary businesses in shaping the future of the global halal economy. 

 

“In 2025, we are proud to once again recognise companies that not only meet the highest Halal standards but also lead through innovation, sustainability and social impact. 

 

“These awards reflect MATRADE’s unwavering commitment to advancing Malaysia’s leadership in the Halal industry, while fostering inclusive and sustainable trade on the global stage,” he said.

 

MATRADE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Sri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz added, the corporation aims to inspire more businesses together in adopting halal principles and strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global leader in the sector.


This year’s MIHAS will feature 45 country pavilions, 1,700 exhibitors, and 2,380 booths.


“Last year’s Awards celebrated 14 outstanding winners ranging from Adabi’s Halal-certified pet food to AFM Fulfillment’s e-commerce solutions which reflected strength and diversity of the halal sector. 

 

“This year, we welcome even greater participation as we also shine a spotlight on the emerging Halal industry players who could exceptionally demonstrate innovation, integrity and excellence that define Malaysia’s Halal industry.,” said the CEO.

 

This year is encouraging both established leaders and rising stars to share their stories and inspire excellence across the halal landscape. 

 

According to MATRADE, winners are selected by a distinguished panel of industry and academic experts through a rigorous evaluation of quality, sustainability, impact and halal compliance.
