MATRADE's Knowledge Hub To Elevate Global Halal Market Insights At MIHAS 2024

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will once again be organising its Knowledge Hub programme as part of its thought leadership initiatives during this year’s Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS). The Knowledge Hub is scheduled for 19 September 2024 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, coinciding with MIHAS, which will run at the same venue from 17 to 20 September 2024.

According to YB Dato' Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, MATRADE’s Chairman, the

Knowledge Hub serves as an important platform for Malaysian exporters to enrich their industry

insights as well as exchange ideas to better understand and capitalise on the evolving global Halal market.

“In line with MIHAS 2024's theme, 'Globalising Halal Innovations', the Knowledge Hub will bring

together industry experts, policymakers, and business leaders to offer insights on sourcing

requirements, opportunities, challenges, and the latest trends reshaping the global Halal market," he said. YB Dato' Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican added that initiatives like the Knowledge Hub enhance MIHAS’ value and support Malaysia’s strategic efforts to position itself as a central hub in global Halal supply chains and a thought leader in areas such as international market trends, innovation, and sustainability practices.

This year’s Knowledge Hub will feature four "Meet the Experts" panel sessions, led by leaders from trade associations and business chambers. These sessions will provide participants with the opportunity to interact directly with market specialists, including premium buyers who will offer crucial market intelligence for navigating the complexities of the global Halal market. The sessions will include industry experts and premium buyers from key markets such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Kazakhstan, the USA, Türkiye, Ireland, New Zealand, and Indonesia.

“The global market for goods and services is projected to reach US$5 trillion (RM23.54 trillion) by 2030. This underscores the potential for Malaysian companies to be part of the global Halal supply chains. Therefore, during MIHAS, we are dedicated to using the Knowledge Hub programme to equip our companies with the necessary knowledge and tools to seize the growing opportunities in the global Halal market,” said YB Dato' Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, MATRADE's Chief Executive Officer, noted that the

Knowledge Hub sessions are engaging, featuring insightful discussions led by industry leaders.

He emphasised that Malaysian companies should take the opportunity to participate, as the

sessions will highlight practical strategies to help them maintain their competitive advantage.

In 2023, MIHAS drew over 1,040 exhibitors from 44 countries and nearly 40,000 trade visitors

from 100 nations, generating RM24.77 billion in sales over its 19 editions. Building on this success, MIHAS 2024 will feature 2,000 booths while sustaining its attendance of 40,000 visitors from 45 countries, reinforcing its position as a key platform in the global Halal industry.
